The honest incentive picture

This matters, because a lot of sites still get it wrong: the federal residential solar tax credit (25D) ended after 2025. Anyone still advertising "30% back" on a home battery is quoting an expired program. What's still real in California is the SGIP battery rebate — with higher amounts for medically vulnerable or high fire-risk households — plus the value of storing your own solar to use at night under NEM 3.0. Do I need solar too?

No. A Powerwall backs up your essential circuits with or without solar. With solar, it also stores your daytime production for the evening. Either way, the interconnection has to meet NEC 705.12 (the 120% busbar rule) — which is why we check your panel first and, if needed, fold a panel upgrade into the same job so it's done once, correctly.
