Old wiring is the risk you can't see.

Behind your walls, aging wiring quietly becomes a hazard — no ground, brittle insulation, aluminum connections that overheat. Astral replaces it right: grounded, code-compliant and safe, whether it's a few circuits or a whole-home rewire.

Rewiring & New Circuits

Signs your home needs rewiring

Most of these hide behind the drywall until they cause a problem. If any sound familiar, it's worth a look.

Two-prong, ungrounded outlets

No equipment ground means shock risk and no protection for modern electronics — common in older homes.

Aluminum branch wiring

Common in 1960s–70s homes and a known fire risk at connections unless properly corrected.

Knob-and-tube wiring

Decades past its life, often un-grounded and degraded — and frequently uninsurable.

Flickering, warm outlets, buzzing

Signs of loose or failing connections that can arc and overheat behind the wall.

Not enough circuits

Tripping breakers and power strips everywhere mean your home has outgrown its wiring.

Remodel or addition

New rooms, a kitchen or an ADU need new circuits sized and run to current code.

Questions, answered

How do I know if I need rewiring?

Common signs are two-prong ungrounded outlets, aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring, flickering lights, warm or buzzing outlets, frequent breaker trips, or a home over 40–50 years old that's never been updated. An assessment confirms what's actually behind the walls.

Is aluminum wiring really dangerous?

Aluminum branch wiring (common in the 1960s–70s) can overheat at connections and is a recognized fire risk. It can often be corrected with proper connectors or a targeted rewire — we'll tell you which your home needs.

Do I have to rewire the whole house at once?

Not necessarily. We can phase the work — starting with the highest-risk circuits — so it fits your budget while making your home safer right away.

Will it damage my walls?

We work to minimize wall openings and route carefully. Where access is needed, we keep cuts clean and small, and leave it patch-ready.

Does rewiring affect my insurance?

Often for the better. Insurers may raise premiums or decline coverage for knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring. Updated, grounded wiring — documented and inspected — removes that flag.
